Liz Matthews, Founder of Global Public Relations and Communications Agency, LMPR, shares with us what it means to her to be a woman today.

Mother - Partner - Juggler.
What made you take the big leap into launching your own business?
To have a better chance at work / life balance and to have autonomy.
What is your favourite part about your job?
Sharing the stories of our amazing brands and talent with the world and working with the best team of women.
What does it mean to be a woman today?
It’s the most exciting time to be a woman - the tide is changing and we are finally being heard. It’s exciting and makes me feel hopeful for my daughter.
The campaign for this International Women’s Day is #Balanceforbetter, what steps are you taking/do we all need to take to see a more gender-balanced world?
Try and surround yourself by people that make you feel good. Get rid of the haters.
If you could pick any woman in history to talk to, who would you pick?
My great grandma. I loved me own granny, Cath SO much but I didn’t get enough time with her. She died in her 60s when I was a horrible teenager. I’d sit with her mum and drink tea and listen to all the stories of when she was a girl. I’d want to know everything about this wonderful woman.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Try to be kind to people. You have no idea what battles people are facing on a daily basis.
What piece of advice would you like to give to young girls?
Take social media with a pinch of salt, put your phone down and go and explore the world, and don’t compare yourself to anyone else.
You’re hosting a dinner party for your female idols – who is at the top of your guest list?
My idols are all my actual friends who I frankly don’t get to see enough of, so I’d have them over for dinner in my new kitchen (not started it yet but if I shut my eyes I can picture how we want it to be when we have the money!)
If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Dolly Alderton’s masterpiece - Everything I know about love.
Where is your oasis in busy London?
A tiny, special church called St Bartholomew the Great near my office in Farringdon.
What is your favourite thing about working in London?
The mix of people and the constant buzz.
Are you a quiet night in or big night out kind of lady?
Definitely quiet night in - we just bought our perfect house and I want to spend as much time there as we can.
Is there a smell that holds significance to you or reminds you of a particular point in your life?
I actually love Tender, by Miller Harris because I introduced it to my partner and he instantly loved it too AND ditched the scent he had be wearing for 20 years.
What do you want a fragrance to express about you?
Confidence, positivity and love.
